The installer lets you choose a / partition as low as 2GB, but this leads to various symptoms on post-install reboot as there is not enough space. The symptom I saw was that, while X started, MythTV did not. /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps was empty. Switching to a 3GB / partition fixed the problem. Immediately after mythtv started running, I did a df, and 2.0GB was already in use on /.

The immediate fix is obvious; don't allow 2GB / partitions.

I would have fixed this myself, but I couldn't find a separate file for mythvantage's menus, and the menu options appear to be built into the mythvantage.bin binary.
