Description

If mythtv doesnt have a tmp directory in ~mythtv, firefox reports all sorts of configuration errors and configuration changes are not saved.

Ensuring that this directory exists should be part of the firefox package installation (or perhaps part of the script that launches firefox).

It is no longer clear that ~mythtv/tmp is the solution to the problem. Needs further investigation.

Problem is:

Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: dbus-launch failed to autolaunch D-Bus session: EOF in dbus-launch reading address from bus daemon
)

I found this post http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=75858 which seems to suggest that the LD_PRELOAD of libGL which was done to solve the firefox crashing when using flash full screen makes dbus-daemon segfault which causes the above problem.

By running /usr/lib/GConf/gconfd-2 before exporting LD_PRELOAD in the firefox launch script, it seems to have solved the problem. I'll update the firefox package to see if it helps others.
